Our purpose is to discover, collect and preserve genealogical and related historical materials about DeWitt County and to make these materials accessible to researchers.

For online research please note that Newspapers.com now has DeWitt County Newspapers through 1963. We have local newspapers on microfilm through 2006. These would include newspapers from Clinton, Kenney, Farmer City and Weldon.
Society Members are available every Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.to assist you in your research. For other days please call ahead to insure that someone can be available to assist you in your research.

DeWitt County Genealogical Society Research Policy
- For a nonrefundable fee of $10.00 for D.C.G.S. members or $15.00 for nonmembers, volunteers will search the holdings of the Society's library for one surname. Additional surnames will be $5.00 for members and $10.00 for nonmembers. A person requesting one obituary (when the exact date is provided) will be charged $3.00 which includes mailing.
- Please be as specific as possible when making research requests, including dates and pedigree charts, if available.
- Copy charges are 25 cents per page.
- The Society will provide a list of persons willing to do further research, if requested.
